The mysterious death of Elisa Lam, a 21-year-old Canadian student, has captivated the internet for years and sparked numerous theories and conspiracy theories. Despite extensive investigations, Lam's death remains unexplained and has only added to the mystery surrounding her tragic demise.
On January 26, 2013, Lam was reported missing after she failed to check out of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Lam had been staying at the hotel while on a solo trip to the city. She had been in regular contact with her family prior to her disappearance and there was no indication that anything was amiss.
After an extensive search, Lam's body was eventually discovered in the water tank on the roof of the hotel, which was used to supply the hotel with water. The tank was located on the roof, which was not easily accessible to the public and could only be reached by a ladder. It is still unclear how Lam's body ended up in the tank and how she was able to access the roof in the first place.
The circumstances surrounding Lam's death were strange from the start. Surveillance footage from the hotel showed Lam behaving erratically in the elevator, pressing multiple buttons and appearing to hide from someone or something. The footage went viral and sparked numerous theories about what may have happened to Lam.
Initially, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stated that there was no evidence of foul play and that Lam's death appeared to be accidental. However, the fact that Lam's body was found in the water tank on the roof of the hotel, an area that was not easily accessible to the public, raised questions about how she got there.
Many people speculated that Lam may have been the victim of a crime, possibly involving the hotel itself. The Cecil Hotel has a history of criminal activity and was the location where serial killer Richard Ramirez, also known as the "Night Stalker," stayed while committing his murders in the 1980s. This added to the already eerie and unsettling nature of the case.
The LAPD conducted an extensive investigation into Lam's death, including questioning hotel staff and reviewing surveillance footage. Despite these efforts, no clear explanation for Lam's death was found. The autopsy report stated that there were no signs of trauma on Lam's body and no evidence of drugs or alcohol in her system. The cause of death was listed as drowning, but it is still unclear how Lam ended up in the water tank.
One theory that has gained popularity is that Lam may have had a mental health crisis, which may have led to her death. Lam had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was taking medication for the condition. It is possible that she may have experienced a manic episode or a psychotic episode, which could have led to her strange behavior in the elevator and her eventual death. This theory is supported by the fact that Lam had a history of mental health issues and had previously been admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
Another theory is that Lam may have been the victim of a crime, although there is no concrete evidence to support this idea. Some people have pointed to the fact that Lam's belongings, including her passport and credit cards, were left in her hotel room as evidence that she may have been the victim of foul play. However, the LAPD stated that there was no evidence to suggest that Lam was the victim of a crime and the case was ultimately closed.
Despite the many theories and speculation surrounding Lam's death, the truth remains a mystery. It is possible that the circumstances of her death may never be fully understood. Lam's tragic death serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the need for support for those

"The Curse of Oak Island" is a popular television series on the History Channel that highlights the exploits of treasure hunters on the mysterious Oak Island. Oak Island is located close to Nova Scotia in Canada, and the theory of the show is that the remote location is host to several artifacts from before Christopher Columbus and other Europeans' arrival to the Americas, as well as a collection of items that could change history as we know it. The show started airing in 2014, and it is currently in Season 9. The show maintains a 78% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and dedicated fans follow the pursuit of treasure almost as much as the cast.
From The History Channel
Rick, Marty and the Oak Island team are back for the biggest season yet – bringing with them more determination, resources and technology than ever in their quest to solve the 224-year old treasure mystery. After seismic testing conducted at the end of last season revealed a possible sunken ship buried in the triangle-shaped swamp, the team will use sonic core drilling, strategic dives and finally a historic big dig to find out what could be buried below. Now fully partnered with fellow land owner, Tom Nolan, the son of the late, Fred Nolan, Rick, Marty and Craig Tester will have unprecedented access to areas of the island that they hope will yield answers… and treasure.
Even more extensive metal detecting will be used to search on the surface of the island while exhaustive archaeological digs will be conducted near the historic homestead foundations of Daniel McGinnis and Samuel Ball.
The cofferdam at Smith’s Cove will be expanded to allow the team to conduct an even more extensive investigation than last year, which uncovered numerous manmade structures dating more than two decades prior to the discovery of the Money Pit in 1795. The Oak Island team will not only find more of the ancient slipway, but be searching for the box drains and artifacts — like the 14th century lead cross found two years ago. They will also be drilling and digging above the beach in search of the so-called convergence point where the box drains are believed to merge into a single flood tunnel leading back to the original Money Pit.
In the Money Pit area, itself, they will conduct deep ground penetrating radar to look for the flood tunnel and using cutting edge survey tech and heavy digging machines, they will excavate early 19th century searcher shafts to help triangulate their way back to the location of the original Money Pit. This will lead to the biggest and most extensive digs that Rick, Marty, Craig Tester and the team have ever conducted in an effort to once and for all locate the fabled “Chappell Vault.”
After 224 years, the Oak Island mystery, now has the greatest chance ever to finally being solved.
Found in a location referred to as "Smith's Cove," a medieval-style cross is excavated by the Langinas and the team's metal detector expert, Gary Drayton, in Season 5. Drayton believes that the cross is of Knights Templar origin and states on the show, "That's really old. This is the type of thing I'd expect to find in Europe. When I first saw it I thought, that looks Medieval — a Medieval cross. I mean, this is old. I would say it is somewhere between 1200 and 1600."
In recent years some discoveries seem to suggest that people definitely did visit the island as early as the 1200s and predominantly in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Many believe that pirate treasure is hidden on the island, perhaps that of Captain Kidd himself, or that the Knights Templar were on some sort of secret mission that brought them to the island.
Coins, metal, wood and even coconut fibers have been found on the island, telling us that despite all the centuries of failed efforts, that yes, people did visit the island back in the day. But the jury is still out when it comes to actual buried treasure that’s priceless. There’s no ship or chests anywhere and the fabled money pit from legends remains just that: a legend. Perhaps one day a pile of gold will be uncovered on the tiny island but for now, it seems safe to say the island may have been used as a smuggling operation or a hideout spot.

FRIDLEY, Minnesota
The 31-year-old Department of Revenue auditor mysteriously went missing in the early morning hours of September 7, 2015 after a night of having fun with people he called friends.
He hasn’t been seen or heard from since then, but, this week, a voicemail recording from that evening has surfaced and it is disturbing.
The troubling call, which was placed from McCabe’s cell phone at 2:30 in the morning of September 7th, contains about 2-minutes of screams, growls and moans, then is punctuated with a few seconds of silence before someone says “stop it.”
“The growls turn into high pitch moans, like he's moaning in pain,” an individual familiar with the Henry McCabe investigation and his last known voicemail message stated yesterday.
Police have been "unable to make any definite conclusions about the disturbing voicemail," Kinney said, adding that 31-year-old Henry McCabe was officially reported missing the following morning and that no one has reported seeing him for nearly four weeks.
A police spokesman also told reporters that the FBI is now analyzing the recording for "further analysis and cleaning up."
Investigators believe this final call originated from the vicinity of Rice Creek Park which borders on the Mounds View and New Brighton communities, although a wide-scale search there produced no evidence.
Because that district isn’t where McCabe’s acquaintance reportedly dropped him off, loved ones of the missing man have expressed some doubts about the accuracy -- or truthfulness -- of this person’s account.
McCabe allegedly left a Spring Lake Park nightclub with his unnamed friend, who subsequently left him at a convenience store in Fridley.
On November 4th, 2015, Henry McCabe's body was found in Rush Lake in New Brighton. McCabe, age 32, is determined to have likely died from drowning in fresh waters, according to an autopsy report by the Ramsey County medical examiner released to his family. New Brighton and Mound Views police chiefs said the case remains an open investigation, and they encourage the public to share any information that they might have regarding McCabe’s death.
This is odd, and inconsistent with the strange voicemail left on his wife's phone.

The full, uninterrupted voicemail is unable to be located at this time (APRIL 2016 at the time of this writing), although the main stream media outlet KSTP is said to have it. As the video shows, this media outlet talks over and describes the voicemail to us instead of allowing people to hear it for themselves. Some real Ron Burgandy and the News at 9 crew reporting over there.
We will continue to scrape the web for the full audio and post it here when found.
2021 Update
The full voicemail recording has never been located and likely never will be.

On September 4, 1878, Esther Cox woke up screaming in her bedroom in Amherst, Nova Scotia. The 19-year-old shared a room with her sister Jennie, and when she calmed down she complained that she’d felt a mouse under her mattress. The two girls lived in the house of their elder sister and her husband, Daniel Teed.
Daniel’s brother John Teed was also living there. The sisters searched, but the room appeared to be suspiciously rodent free. Then, the same thing happened the next night. Again they searched, and again they found nothing. Then, on September 6, Esther awoke in pain, her entire body swelling and turning bright red. A series of loud bangs echoed through the room, after which Esther returned to normal and fell asleep. The same thing happened again a few days later, but this time other family members heard the commotion and rushed into the room.
Esther’s bedding had been torn from her bed by an unseen force and thrown around the room. John Teed was among the first there, and he tried to help put the bedding back on, but ended up in a battle of wills with whatever invisible force wanted to keep the beds unmade.
The poltergeist also attacked John with a pillow. After everyone heard a few more sudden explosions, everything went back to normal. The family called their physician, Dr. Carritte. The doctor stayed in the room when Esther went to bed. When the young woman’s pillow began sliding around under her head, Carritte tried to hold onto it, but his invisible opponent was stronger.
During the pillow-tugging contest, Carritte heard scratching and saw a message slowly appear in the wall, carved by an invisible instrument: “Esther Cox, you are mine to kill!”In the following weeks, the poltergeist began setting small fires. He threatened to burn the house down unless Esther left, so she went to stay at a local inn with a friend of the family.
The poltergeist followed, and Esther was seriously injured when a pocket knife flew from the hand of the innkeeper’s son straight into Esther’s back. When the boy tried to pull it out, it was again yanked from his hand and plunged into the same opening. The wound became infected, and Esther barely survived the following weeks.
When she was well again, Esther met a man named Walter Hubbell, and he had the worst idea in history. He took Esther to New Brunswick and put on a show, charging people to come and witness the spooky phenomena. The poltergeist never made a peep in front of the audience. The world’s most boring theater piece was chased out of town, and the two were forced to abandon the project.Esther then got a job as a domestic helper for a local court clerk,
Arthur Davison. Esther had only been there a few months when their barn burned down. The young woman was blamed for starting the blaze, but she insisted that it was actually her poltergeist stalker. The judge wasn’t impressed, and Esther was convicted of arson. The poltergeist became gradually less active, and went away as mysteriously as it had turned up. Esther married twice, and died in 1912.
