Wedding Day Ghost
Photo: Liz
It's an interesting photo. We have three possibilities:
- It's an extraordinary case of pareidolia -- an illusion.
- It's a hoax -- a very clever and well-executed one -- created with image editing software.
- It's a genuine ghost.
I'm not ready to say it's a genuine ghost. And I think it's too detailed to be pareidolia. So I suspect -- and Liz, forgive me if I'm wrong -- that this is a manipulated photo. And my main reason for saying that is that the "ghost" is just too scary looking, like something out of a horror movie. It's just too theatrical. Your opinion? -- S.W.
Liz responds:
I thank you for your feedback on the wedding day photo, but I do not agree. These pictures were taken before I was born -- that's a long time ago. And when I saw the photos they have never changed. There is a lot about this picture no one can explain, and I think it's something paranormal. -- Liz

One of the most popular emerging ghost stories coming out from the past decade is the gradual appearance of an entity known as the “Slender man” on forums and social networking sites. Unlike so many other figures in our modern mythology, this one can be traced back to a single source. Its creation was public and contributed by several different people. The case of Slender man was closed, so it seemed, before it was even opened. But in this case the mysterious figure did not die with so many others. It spread by forces unknown until it was no longer on the Internet. Slender man, according to a growing minority, had become real.
At least that’s what the mythology of this mysterious phantasmal figure suggests. Given the relative level of anonymity many sources are granted as they broadcast their experiences and the experiences of friends, reliable sources are often difficult to pinpoint. Of course the idea of Slender man would not be all that terrifying itself, except for an experiment conducted in Toronto Canada which artificially created a “ghost” by essentially doing exactly what the Slender man mythology did - with troubling results.
The Philip experiment in Toronto constructed an artificial paranormal entity and created the background story of a man named Philip, then brought in a team of mediums in an attempt to contact whatever entity may have been present in its place. Not only did the spiritual mediums introduce “Philip” by name, soon after several strange occurrences took place suggesting the entity was in fact not only present, but unusually powerful in the presence of those who had created it secretly. The “ghost” was recorded lifting a heavy table in the presence of the mediums and even made attempts to communicate with its “creators” during the course of the experiment while they were in the room.
So disturbing was it, in fact, that to this day the “Philip Experiment” remains as one of the strangest paranormal experiments ever conducted. And while the subjects involved were unaware that they had contacted a purely fictional entity as the experiment was running, the results speak for themselves.
So how is this any different than the creation of the entity known as “Slender Man” and indeed several other figures of urban legend lore? If validated, it would raise several questions about paranormal phenomena in general - as well as give those who contribute to the lore keeping of a culture a great deal to think about. After all, if the only prerequisite for encountering something is a genuine belief that it exists or even a story connecting it to a space, this would give many second thoughts about looking in the mirror and saying “Bloody Mary.” What may have begun on the Something Awful forums as a way to disturb and entertain could have therefore ended up as much more. And as the greater consciousness of the world has begun absorbing this figure into the wider spectrum of popular culture, it has changed - even being featured on talk radio show "Coast to Coast AM."
Of course it also raises a question about just how much influence this mysterious effect can have on the universe around us. Filling the void, scientists often use the words “quantum physics” when trying to explain mysterious or seemingly nonsensical effects in an otherwise orderly universe that seems to follow safe Newtonian physics. But with the validation of quantum entanglement and the understanding that the brain itself is a quantum computer, perhaps in time we may understand why thought can have such an effect on the world around us. And if observation casts away the shadows of our environment, we can only wonder if Slender man is watching us now in some unobserved corner in the mean time.

A time slip is an alleged paranormal phenomenon in which a person, or group of people, travel through time through supernatural (rather than technological) means. As with all paranormal phenomena, the objective reality of such experiences is disputed.
One of the best-known, and earliest, examples of a time slip was reported by two English women, Charlotte Anne Moberly (16 September 1846 – 7 May 1937) and Eleanor Jourdain (1863–1924), the principal and vice-principal of St Hugh’s College, Oxford, who believed they slipped back in time in the gardens of the Petit Trianon at Versailles from the summer of 1901 to the period of the French Revolution.
On August 10, 1901 Moberly and Jourdain were visiting the Palace of Versailles. They decided to go in search of the Petit Trianon. While walking through the grounds they both were impressed by a feeling of oppressive gloom. They claimed to have encountered, and interacted with, a number of people in old fashioned attire whom they later assumed to have been members of the court of Marie Antoinette and to have seen a figure that may have been Marie Antoinette herself on the day in 1792 when she learned that the mob had stormed the Tuileries Palace.
The Vanishing Hotel
A widely-publicized case from October 1979, described in the ITV television series Strange But True?, concerned the Simpsons and the Gisbys, two English married couples driving through France en route to a holiday in Spain. They claimed to have stayed overnight at a curiously old-fashioned hotel and decided to break their return journey at the same hotel but were unable to find it. Photographs taken during their stay, which were in the middle of a roll of film, were missing, even from the negative strips, when the pictures were developed.
Bold Street, Liverpool
In recent years, the street has gained an eerie reputation as the location of a number of time slip phenomena in which people have claimed to travel briefly back in time to Bold Street as it was in the 1950s and 1960s
Feeling of unreality
Many time slip witnesses report that, at the start of their experience of the phenomena, their immediate surroundings take on an oddly flat, under lit and lifeless appearance, and normal sounds seem muffled. This is sometimes accompanied by feelings of depression and unease. In some respects, this facet of the phenomenon is similar to the Oz Factor identified by British UFO researcher Jenny Randles in some reports of encounters with supposed extraterrestrial craft.
Ability to interact
Reports vary as to whether those experiencing time slips can take an active part in the event, interacting with the time being “visited”. In the Versailles case, the two ladies were apparently seen, and spoken to, by people they saw. The French holidaymakers in 1979 went further, staying in a hotel and eating dinner and breakfast in the course of their experience. Both these cases are also unusually prolonged experiences, taking place over at least several hours.
So I pose my question, is this really happening? Are people really stepping back in time? if so how has it affected history? surely someone had to give warnings about Hitler or Ghengis Khan? Or maybe there was someone even worse but that time line was changed and we have no memory of it?
IF you look at some of the examples, reported by Tim Swartz A case from Yorkshire in the 1980s: the people experiencing a time slip have no control over what time they visit. that one fact could drop you in a very dangerous place… as in a battle field or in the middle of the Black Plague.. So the question is; is this all a dream? Or are people really traveling back to the past? Below is a interesting two-part video which explains two interesting cases of this time-slip phenomenon.

These pictures on this page were taken with a stationary deer cam. Deer Cams are camaflouged units that a hunter ties to a tree approximately 6 feet off the ground. They automatically snap a series of photos when motion is detected. They appear similar to the unit shown to the right. The strange anomaly shown below was caught on a game trail camera in Missouri. You will notice there are no animals in the photo setting the motion detection off. There is an odd luminous object in the middle of the photo. Its origins are unknown.
His commentary: The new pic I just captured this past deer season. It has three deer in it, all looking at the camera at the same time, which is unusual. Deer don’t usually all look in the same direction at the same time, some will have their heads down, or turned to one side or the other. Above the deer’s heads in the middle, top, right of the pic you can see two red lights glowing. That’s right, they are glowing, meaning that they are illuminated and reflecting a red glow on the leaves around them. You can see it when you zoom in on the pic. So, it’s not a reflection off the inside of the camera lens.
There aren’t any roads, trails, atv or otherwise, anywhere near where these pics were taken. I’ve already ruled that out. It’s in the middle of the woods on our property, and there isn’t any way possible for it to be an airplane or anything like that. Too many trees. It’s just one of those pics that keeps you wondering, and realizing that there are things that we just can’t explain. If only deer could talk? I bet they could tell us alot.
